A six-member delegation lead by Filippo Grandi visited the Rohingya camp

A six-member delegation lead by UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi visited the Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.

The delegation arrived at the Kutupalong Registered Camp in Ukhia at 9 AM on Sunday (May 22) and visited the UNHCR’s Community Center in Block-D and exchanged views with various block committees. After one hour of continuous exchange of views, the delegation visited the BRAC Community Center run by UNHCR in the B-24 block of Camp-3, exchanged views, enjoyed the Rohingya game and played football. Later, he visited the Peace Club for Adolescents in D-50 Block, exchanged views with officials and members, inspected the teaching activities among Rohingyas between the ages of 15 and 20 and sewing activities for female Rohingyas.

He later visited the Jute Production Center located in E-Block of Camp-5 and exchanged views with the officials present. After an hour-long exchange of views, the delegation led by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees visited the Food Distribution Center run by the World Food Program (WFP) at Camp 4 and distributed food among the Rohingyas.

After visiting Camp-5, the delegation visited Mall Sludge Treatment Plant, Plantation, CNRS Center at Camp-4, exchanged views with officials on various issues, biogas plant, and observed the activities of volunteers engaged in environmental protection.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Shah Rezwan Hayat and other senior officials were present during the visit. Later, the delegation left Ukhia for Cox’s Bazar at noon.
